At the end of every working day, a shop owner faces the same question: "Did all the money come in correctly?" Counting cash, matching card transactions, and reconciling digital payments by hand takes 30โ45 minutes and is prone to errors. Dhando POS cash register makes this a 2-minute process.
๐ 2026 Trend: For Indian shop owners, the daily cash register closing is one of the most critical operations. Cash discrepancies โ even โน50 short โ can indicate theft, errors, or missed entries. In 2026, cloud POS systems with built-in cash register management let shopkeepers get an automated closing report showing expected vs actual cash โ without manually counting every transaction.
Managing your cash drawer manually? Dhando POS's cash register management gives you complete control over your daily cash flow. Set opening balances, track all cash in/out during the shift, and generate a closing report that shows exactly what's expected vs what's actually in the drawer. Multi-cashier support ensures every person's transactions are tracked individually.
The Daily Register Cycle
Open the Register
At the start of the day, open Cash Register and record your opening cash balance โ whatever cash you start the till with. This sets the baseline for the day.
Trade Normally
All sales made during the day are automatically tracked by the register โ by payment method. Cash sales, card payments, UPI transactions โ everything accumulates in real time.
Record Expenses from Till
If cash is taken from the till for a purchase (vegetables, electricity, supplies), record it as an expense. The register tracks cash out as well as cash in.
Close the Register
At closing time, tap Close Register. Count the physical cash in your drawer and enter the amount. Dhando POS shows you the expected balance โ any difference is highlighted immediately.
Print & Review the Report
The register report prints automatically (if printer is connected) โ a complete summary of the day. Keep it for your records or share with the shop owner.
What the Register Report Shows
โ Shortages & overages: If your physical count differs from the expected amount, Dhando POS shows the difference (shortage or overage) and logs it in the register details. This helps identify cashier errors or theft over time.
Multi-Cashier Support
If you have more than one cashier, each can open their own register session with a separate opening balance. At the end of the shift, each cashier's session is closed independently โ making it easy to hold each person accountable for their till separately.
Receipts Marked to Register
Every sale is automatically associated with the open register session. This means the register report only includes sales made during that specific session โ not old sales from previous days. The accounting is clean and period-specific.
Why This Matters
- Accountability: Staff know their cash is being tracked โ mistakes (and theft) are caught immediately
- Speed: End-of-day reconciliation goes from 45 minutes to 5 minutes
- Audit trail: Every register session is saved permanently โ you can review any day's totals anytime
- Multi-method clarity: Cash vs. card vs. UPI is clearly separated โ no guessing when reconciling with your bank statement
